CHILD SLAIN IN TRUCK COLLISION

Joseph Douglas Greene, aged 6, Almost Instantly Killed.

COLUMBUS, Ga., Oct. 9. -- Joseph Douglas Greene, 6-year-old son of Maj. D. T. Greene, student officer of the infantry school at Fort Benning, was run down early tonight and almost instantly killed by a truck driven by Roscoe Chester, negro. The little fellow, according to information obtained from the authorities, was trying to run across the street when he was struck by the truck, in the Wynnton residence section.

The body will be taken to West Point, N. Y., for funeral and interment. For the past four years Major Greene has been connected with the department of tactics at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He and his family have been in Columbus only a month. The little boy died en route to the city hospital in an automobile.
